Up For The Cup (a working title) follows a Wigan Athletic fan who has been spending the 2013-14 football season following the FA Cup, chronicling his teams defence of the oldest trophy in football.
Nowadays
it seems that The FA Cup doesn’t capture the imaginations of the players,
clubs, press and public alike, but is that true of everyone? I’m not sure it is.
On this
journey, I hope to find some answers to the many questions I have. Does the FA
Cup matter to the supporters, even if the clubs and the media aren’t bothered?
Why aren’t they bothered? And what
can be done to make the competition better?
Starting the journey with 74 other people, and at least 2 dogs, in Alsager, a small town near Stoke, the journey is set to be completed with two trips to Wembley. Along the way the author has been messed around by trains, seen a child suffer pie abuse, been turned down for tickets, talked to elderly women about classic films at a bus stop. Oh and the football has been good too.
Due to be released initially on Kindle in Summer 2014
